To help the California solar industry in its fight to save net metering, BayWa r.e. will cover half of member dues for any company that joins the California Solar & Storage Association (CALSSA) in October. With an initial decision from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) on the future of net metering and the California solar market coming out Dec. 10, BayWa r.e. is asking all solar companies to step up and support CALSSA’s work to save net metering. For decades CALSSA has played a leading role in the regulatory, legal and political fight to keep the California market strong and net metering alive.

“Net metering is essential to the continued growth of solar and engaging on this topic in California, which has historically led the U.S. in both installed volumes and policy standards, is especially important,” said Jodi White, co-CEO of BayWa r.e. Solar Systems LLC. “This program is a vehicle for BayWa r.e. to simultaneously support solar contractors and the renewables industry. We are a proud CALSSA member and invite all solar contractors and companies that do business in California to take advantage of our offer and join us in supporting net metering at this critical time.”

To join the California Solar & Storage Association and take advantage of the BayWa r.e. offer, companies can fill out the membership application form at calssa.org/join and use discount code “BayWa” to get 50% off their annual membership (must be a first-time CALSSA member and join before the end of October to qualify for the discount)

“Solar contractors’ futures have never been so under threat, but industry leaders like BayWa r.e. stepping up to go above and beyond during this net metering crisis, and encouraging others to do the same, is exactly what needs to happen so our industry can hold back these attacks on solar businesses,” said CALSSA Executive Director, Bernadette Del Chiaro. “Every new member we have grows the solar army and helps give us the resources we need to amplify our message, strengthen our coalition and deploy the host of tactics we need to save this industry. We are thrilled that BayWa r.e. is stepping up this way and are excited to have more solar companies join us in the fight.”

The Indivisible California Green Team and local Indivisible chapters ask Governor Newsom and the California Public Utilities Commission to support the continued growth of rooftop solar and storage to protect the public from blackouts, wildfires and budget-busting energy bills.
