Rigs Contract Manager – Spring, TX

Develop and manage a portfolio of agreements for offshore drilling rigs (drill ships, semisubmersibles, jack ups, and/or platform drilling and workover rigs) including overall responsibility to drive value and efficiency and expand market advantage via end-to-end category management (from strategy to implementation)

Responsible for stewarding contracting process with ownership of commercial negotiations including T&Cs through close engagement with Well’s Senior Commercial Consultant and dedicated Law support to achieve best commercial agreement Supplier relationship management; establish and maintain regularly interface with rig contractors to resolve issues, negotiate contracts, and identify commercial optimizations Responsible for international portfolio with daily interactions both internally and externally with different cultures allowing development of International Business experience and opportunity to mentor procurement colleagues around the world as required Member of a small team with flexible portfolio share/split arrangement allowing exposure to the full range of the Upstream project life cycle from new awards for short duration exploration work to longer term relationship focused agreements for development work. Focus on process execution to support business partner within sometimes complex regulatory and partner procurement requirements while achieving full compliance with ExxonMobil controls. Requiring a key mix of project management and organization skills to support business partner through full contracting process and deliver contracts in a timely manner. Support development and implementation of category specific strategy and commercial guidance on a collaborative team. Develop deep understanding of offshore rigs market by utilizing variety of information sources from market intelligence tools/reports to conversations with contractors and other operators to provide early input to drill teams on rig contracting strategy and work to identify opportunities to improve commercial approaches. Collaborate across the broader Wells Procurement Team (Rigs, Materials, and Services) on category planning, contracting strategy development, and project execution. Ensure transactional efficiency of agreements (enterprise resource planning friendly agreements)
BS, MBA, MS in Engineering, Supply Chain, or other applicable business degrees Strong analytical, negotiation, and communication skills A minimum of 5 years of Upstream/Drilling experience A minimum of 3 years of experience with contracting (marketing) offshore drilling rigs either from operator or rig contractor perspective
Procurement / commercial functional expertise Procurement experience in the Oil and Gas Industry (Upstream strongly preferred) Strong communication skills Analytical skills / understanding of total system cost concept Effective negotiation, advocacy and influencing skills Knowledge of purchase to pay process Project planning / execution / organization skills Team player
