As the company's storytellers, the Public Affairs department focuses on building the company's brand and reputation, communicating company information and being active members of the communities where we work. Public Affairs drives government relations, media relations, crisis communications, community involvement, marketing communications, internal/external communications and digital communications to disseminate business objectives, news and information that effectively engages internal and external stakeholders.

Chevron Phillips Chemical is seeking a Communications Advisor to join the Legal & Public Affairs organization located at The Woodlands, Texas, headquarters location to support the company’s internal and external communications activities. Reporting to the Strategic Communications Lead, the Communications Advisor will be responsible for developing communication strategies and plans for key company initiatives, creating content to share with employees and contractors worldwide, measuring results and implementing continuous improvements as well as providing executive support. This position will play a key role in driving awareness and employee engagement for organizations across the company, including an important focus on company culture, Diversity Equity & Inclusion programs, and business transformation initiatives. Additionally, this individual will be expected to contribute to other areas of Corporate Communications including crisis communications and at peak times, media relations.

The successful candidate will be results-oriented and agile with a collaborative mindset and ability to identify, engage and influence broad stakeholder groups across the organization. Strong writing skills are also a must as the Communications Advisor will need to distill complex information into simple and relatable stories for a global audience, with a focus on reaching thousands of workers in manufacturing facilities.

This position is eligible for the current hybrid work model (split of remote and office-based days).

Create strategic communication plans for internal initiatives that take into consideration audience segmentation, synergies with existing programs, and cadence of message delivery Develop content to support internal communications initiatives – write stories and copy for company intranet, partner with production resources to create videos, develop presentations and talking points, and work with designers to develop compelling graphics Leverage measurement tools to assess efficacy of communication campaigns and implement improvements from lessons learned Engage with subject matter experts across the company to support their communication needs in a wide range of areas, including Manufacturing, Reliability, Business Transformation, Human Resources, employee networks, EHSS, Legal, etc. Interface with and provide communications counsel to leaders at all levels of the company, including the executive leadership team Work collaboratively with Public Affairs team to plan and execute announcements for internal and external audiences Effectively manage projects from start-to-finish, ensuring strict adherence to detailed timelines, review processes, etc. Contribute to the Public Affairs team on internal, marketing, digital media, and external communications projects as needed Strives to be agile and adaptable, responding constructively to new situations/challenges Demonstrates a strong sense of ownership and commitment to efficiently achieving goals and objectives and sets high standards for personal performance Tackles difficult challenges or problems quickly and directly by promoting or asserting positions and ideas with confidence Minimum education of bachelor’s degree Minimum of seven years of corporate communications experience Internal and external communications experience Demonstrated ability to manage full lifecycle communications initiatives, projects, or processes Experience working as a productive member of cross-functional teams Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related disciplineAgency, petrochemical, energy, or oil/gas industry experienceHR and crisis communications experienceWorking knowledge of SharePoint and Adobe Creative Suite
