"Eat the rich"? More like let the rich eat priceless works of art currently hanging in the Louvre.
SPACE RACE?: Another billionaire may beat Jeff Bezos to space
"Nobody has eaten the mona lisa and we feel jeff bezos needs to take a stand and make this happen," the Change.org petition's description simply reads.
Considering the French government owns the "Mona Lisa" and racks in plenty of money allowing millions of tourists to glance at it, it's wildly unlikely they'll hand it over to a billionaire hoping to pair it with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
But if the French did feel so inclined to revolutionize international cuisine and alleviate the country's national debt (as someone suggested back in 2014), the painting is still well within Bezos' budget for a nice evening out.
Taking inflation into account, the painting is believed to be worth more than $850 million—a figure based on a 1962 insurance assessment that appraised the painting at $100 million. Bezos is currently worth $190 billion. Eating the "Mona Lisa" would only cost him .47 percent of his net worth and land him in history books as the Most Eccentric Billionaire Ever and effectively overtaking Elon Musk forever, which is something maybe even more priceless than the "Mona Lisa" anyway.
UM... NO: Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert actually asked if moon's, Earth's orbit can be 'altered'
Then again, a ticket to the Louvre is only €17, and Bezos' might not want to put his health at risk by consuming a 500-year-old painting, lest a dormant illness resting in da Vinci's paint sends him to the emergency room and makes his trip and to space and superyacht useless to him.
The petition has 870 signatures as of writing, but there's still time to take a stand and ask Bezos to commit to the consumption of a priceless painting. All movements have to start somewhere.
